Below is a list of ongoing and prospective topics to be addressed by Data II Equity.
PROJECTS
AMERICAN COMMUNITY SURVEY -- LIMA

Most Americans are familiar with the Census that conducted every 10 years. Fewer are familiar with the American Community Survey, even though it offers far greater insights into every community. This application provides Lima stakeholders with access to data on race, sex, income, employment, and transit, among many other categories.
GEOGRAPHIC DISTRIBUTION OF SAME-SEX COUPLES -- OHIO

LGBTQ Ohioans continue to be excluded from Ohio state laws that prohibit discrimination in employment, housing, and retail establishments. We will work with other organizations to quantify Ohio's LGBTQ population and distribution so that lawmakers can visualize their presence in each community.
CRIME AND POLICING -- LIMA
Desired Project
Crime reduces the equity and opportunity of every victim. Police data can be used to better understand the causes of crime and prioritize interventions. Data science can also increase policing efficiency and fairness, and be used to better understand officer stress and other factors that contribute to adverse interactions between citizens and officers.
HOUSING BLIGHT -- LIMA
Coming Soon
Urban blight is a common affliction in Rust Belt cities, including Lima. Neglected houses reduce the financial equity of neighbors and invite criminal activity. Data science can be used to better understand the symptoms and predictors of blight. These insights can help Lima prioritize interventions, from citations to demolition, to reduce the spread of blight.
